Iron Removal
Iron, a naturally occuring mineral, combined with groundwater, dissolves into water through surrounding rocks. According to the EPA, iron in your water does not create a health hazard, but it can create an unpleasant taste. Too much iron in your water can also turn water into a rusty-red color when coming from your water faucet. In addition to discoloration and unpleasant taste, iron can create scale, deposits of iron in your pipes, and can block water flow and potentially damage your hot water tank. Iron deposits can also stain your laundry a yellow, orange or brown color.

Harmful Iron Removal
To remove iron, iron removal systems and filters do the job best. Iron removal filters store a bubble of air in your well system within the media tank. As water passes through the air, the iron or sulfur is converted into a particle which is trapped by filters within the tank as the air bubble is slowly consumed by the passing water. Removing the iron happens in the regeneration state, when your unit backwashes itself which removes any iron and sulfur particles that were trapped.
Replenish Air
Once the process is completed, the system will replenish the air bubble by drawing from atmosphere and temporarily emptying the tank of water, transferring oxygen molecules into and on the surface of the media bed where all oxidation occurs.
